Week one – Multi Style Yoga Holiday

I am very excited to collaborate with my good friend Yoko Swami (www.omyoko.com) to offer you a unique opportunity to experience several different styles of yoga in one transformational week in beautiful Morocco this September. Whether you are a beginner looking to try out different classes to find a practice you really resonate with, or an advanced practitioner who wants to expand your yoga repertoire, you’ll enjoy the expert tuition of not one, but two teachers, delicious veggie cuisine and lots of free time to soak up the culture, surf or simply chill out at our stunning mountain riad.

Regular yoga retreats usually focus on one or two styles of yoga, but with so many classes on offer in studios all over the world, we recognise the need for students to have the opportunity to experiment with different styles to find the one that really fits their individual needs. In this 8 day yoga holiday we’ll explore the very best of ashtanga, vinyasa flow, hatha, slow flow, meditation and pranayama (yogic breathing). There will be plenty of time to relax and explore the local area and of course both teachers will be available to advise you on your practice and yoga journey.image

Week two – Vinyasa Flow Yoga & Meditation Retreat

Join me for a week long exploration of innovate, creative vinyasa flow where we’ll systematically open and strengthen the body leaving you renewed and revitalised. We’ll be starting each day with a beautiful guided meditation before our fun, dynamic morning practice.  After a delicious, nutritious breakfast there will be plenty of time to explore beautiful Morocco before we come together at sunset for our relaxing slow flow class. Great yoga, great food, great people.

Location & Activities

On both weeks, the retreat will take place at Mountain Riad (www.mountainriad.com) in the beautiful little surf town of Taghazout, just 20 minutes from Agadir airport. The riad sleeps 14 and is traditionally furnished with stunning Moroccan decor and nestled in the quiet anti atlas mountains, just 10 minutes drive or 30 minutes walk to world famous surf breaks and beaches. The riad has lots of cosy communal areas and spacious outdoor terraces with sunbeds for you to relax and unwind after morning practice. In your free time you can surf, hike, bike, beach, indulge in a local hammam or thai yoga massage, or shop in the incredible Moroccan souks.

We will take one afternoon off for an optional day trip to Essoueira, a beautiful walled medina famous for its shopping and Moroccan culture taking in the breathtaking views of the coastline.

The Teachers – Jenn Russell

Jenn is advanced certified teacher with a true passion for movement. As an ex professional dancer, her vinyasa flow classes take students on a creative journey through their practice, linked with creative transitions and uplifting music and delivered with humour and a sense of playfulness. If you like a fun and uplifting practice, this one’s for you!

Following the completion of two intensive yoga trainings, Jenn has taught extensively in Morocco, UK, Croatia, Goa, Thailand and Indonesia, leading students through vinyasa flow, power, yin, ashtanga, meditation and partner yoga practices. She encourages students to have fun exploring their infinite capabilities … after all what your body is allowing you to do is truly amazing!

Yoko Swami

Yoko’s yoga journey began in India in 1998. He has since spent many years exploring life and spirituality in India, a country he feels deeply connected to. Yoko has experimented with various types of yoga and meditation techniques over the years, with a special interest in the work of Osho. However, he has always returned to the traditional teachings of ashtanga and hatha yoga, where he finds discipline and structure. Yoko enjoys embedding these values into his teaching, guiding students to explore and master this beautiful practice and helping them to link breath, asanas, and mind, so that their practice becomes a meditation in movement.

As a teacher, Yoko specialises in physical adjustments to ensure a safe practice where students’ can improve and deepen their understanding of the postures. As an experienced assistant in yoga teacher trainings, Yoko is able to adjust students of all levels intuitively and mindfully to help them deepen their practice while honouring their physical limitations.
